What the scriptures teach

God's plan of salvation

The New Testament does not leave a person guessing about what to do to be saved. What follows is the order the apostles themselves preached, with the passages that teach it. Read them for yourself.

  1. Hear the gospel

    So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  2. Believe

    But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

  3. Repent

    And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent.

  4. Confess

    That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

  5. Be baptized

    Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

  6. Remain faithful

    Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
